[Systems Practice Community Event - crossposted on SCEU] Movement for Community-led Development (MCLD) with John Coonrod

This event is hosted by the Systems Practice Community – not SCEU! We love their sessions, though, and there’s synchronicity to share. Find out more information about the Systems Practice Community, and this session, join their google group: https://groups.google.com/g/systems-practice-community

In this gathering, SPC member John Coonrod will host a discussion on how SPC members may wish to contribute to the Movement for Community-led Development (MCLD) and its work.

MCLD is a majority-world led network of networks with a strong systems-change focus. It comprises more than 3,000 community-based organizations in 40 countries and 35 of their INGO allies.

The MCLD founder, Dr John Coonrod, has joined the Systems Practice Community and invites you to join MCLD. Several former USAID staff are active members, either as individuals or with their new organizations. John describes this as a great leadership opportunity for SPC members.

MCLD members in each country build a national association that is locally registered and led, consistent with MCLD principles. Each national association serves as a platform for collective action to scale-up community-led development and advocate for the policies that support.

Globally, MCLD provides mutual capacity-strengthening on an on-demand basis and facilitates a number of global working groups on gender, community-led MEL, and youth engagement. MCLD-US sponsors a lean secretariat of 9 including 5 regional coordinators, and works closely with the UN Local2030 coalition.

If you can’t make it, the session will be recorded and John is happy to do more of them!
